Starting CTF Club at Northeastern

This semester, myself and a talented group of fellow cybersecurity students are starting a CTF club at Northeastern. While there is already a cybersecurity club on campus, they largely focus on social and networking events. Myself and others noticed a gap in technical, hands-on cybersecurity events where students could practice and learn new skills.

As a co-founder and Vice President, I have been crafting CTF challenges for our upcoming competitions and weekly general meetings. They range in difficulty and in topic, since we want to be inclusive of all skill levels and expose students to the various CTF domains. During workshops, we teach students new tools and technical skills, and then provide CTFs for them to practice on.

I have also been leading club operations, and my last two years on the board of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) have given me ample experience in how to run a student organization. I direct our weekly board meetings where we plan future events, strategize social media presence and marketing, ideate initiatives to increase member engagement, address organizational logistics, and determine the overall path forward. As a leader, I ensure the smooth operation of the board and that we all work together seamlessly to achieve our established goals.

I’m excited to build up this club into an established presence on campus!
